Technical Buyers, Engineers Get More Choices on GlobalSpec Search Engine

New parametric search capabilities let distributors showcase offerings on "The Engineering Web"

Las Vegas, NV — May 3, 2005 — Technical buyers and engineers using GlobalSpec's specialized search engine to identify suppliers will now have a broader range of choices as the solution provider announced the addition of specialized capabilities that will allow distributors to showcase their offerings for the engineering community.

GlobalSpec, a specialized search engine and information resource for the engineering community, today announced its new marketing service for distributors at the Electronics Distribution Show in Las Vegas.

Using SpecSearch, its search technology as the foundation, GlobalSpec customized its parametric search capabilities to meet the specialized needs of the distributor. This allows distributors to showcase their company, products, services and line cards on GlobalSpec for the first time, the solution provider said.

"The engineers and technical buyers using GlobalSpec will now be given an even broader range of search choices," said Scott Virkler, vice president of business development at GlobalSpec.

Virkler noted that more than 2.3 million engineers and technical buyers search GlobalSpec every month to access the world's largest collection of online supplier catalogs searchable by specification as well as technical information from what the provider calls "The Engineering Web." He added that by adding distributors to the more than 14,000 manufacturer catalogs already searchable on GlobalSpec, the provider had strengthened its offering as a comprehensive information resource for the engineering community.

"Offering searchable distributor catalogs and their corresponding line cards is a natural extension for us," said Virkler.

Distributors now have access to the nearly 2 million registered users that regularly search GlobalSpec to locate suppliers, products and services meeting their needs, according to the solution provider.

Nielsen Technical Services to Provide Personal and Private Responses to User's Questions
