HTML version of the Free Search Engine List

This version of the submission list is what we use to submit web site URLs for our clients. It is used along with the Excel spreadsheet that we use to record the web site submissions, and track which search engines and directories have existing listings for older sites, or published listings for sites that have been submitted.

The list has the following columns:

- Submission category. There is a key to the codes at the bottom of the page that explains how we have categorized the listings. Most sites will want to submit to all that are listed under 1, 2, and 3. These are all general systems and the higher the number the more work it takes to make the submission, but it is also worth the effort.

- Web site name. This generally the domain of the site, but could be the official name. Click on this link to go to the main page of the site.

- Submit URL notes. Information that is important about the listing. This will often save you time in skipping sites that you won't want to submit to, or give you important hints that can affect your submission being listed.

- Submit link. This should take you directly to the submission page, but for most directories you need to find the correct category to submit your URL to.

If you find a link is wrong or does not work, please let us know since many systems change it to foil auto-submitters. If this link says "dir" and not "add", it means you will have to find the correct directory category and then select the submit URL link from that page. If it says "register", then you will have to register to submit.

This list can be used on your PC, or from a web site. Each link opens a new window and after you submit you site just close the window, record the submission in the spreadsheet, and go to the next site.
