Free Search Engine Hand Submission System

We call this a "system" but it's really pretty simple. It consists of an Excel spreadsheet that has the current list loaded in it. You can use the spreadsheet to record when and where you submit your site to. If you are a professional SEO you can make a copy of this spreadsheet and used it to record the all of the client sites you submit and send them a copy.

While you could use the URLs in the spreadsheet, we are not able to import them so they are "live" and clickable. We use the HTML search engine list page to do the actual submissions, and then copy one of the three color markers into the submission column.

- An "n" means we did not submit for some reason
- A red cell means the site was down or not working
- A yellow cell with an "n" means the site was not found, but we did submit the site to the search engine or directory
- A green cell with the number 1 means we did find the site listed and may or may not have submitted the site again.

Open the spreadsheet in Excel and open a browser window. Drag and drop the HTML search engine list in the browser, or enter the location in the location window.

Select a search engine or directory to submit to and click the link on the left to go to the site's home page, or click the link on the right which may say "add" or "dir" to go to the submission page for that site. When you click on one of the links it will open a new browser window.

We do this because using the "back" button can be very slow and you have a lot of clicking to do if you want to submit your site to this list. If you get an error, the submission page may have changed so just go to the home page and find the submission page. If the link says "dir" then it means it is a directory-style site and you will have to find the correct category to submit to before you can submit your URL.

If you are only interested in sites that accept US submissions and do not care about special topical sites or other web resources, you may wish to use the SSI include file which only has sites from categories 1, 2, and 3.
